An Evening with Rea Tajiri

One of the main features of this trip was to visit my Aunt Rea and see her show, a retrospective of her film and video work since 1991.  It showed at the Prince Music Theater in Philly on July 7th and featured excerpts from four of her works.  They included "(Bridge) River is Remembering", "Strawberry Fields", "Little Murders" and "History and Memory".
A full description of the event is here.

I had forgotten how lovely the images alone were, or how compelling the narrations and stories. I smuggled my dogs into the theater in their carry case and afterwards we all went to a local Chinese restaurant.  It was nice to see her students so appreciative of her work :)
